High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

These are the BEST almond croissants I have ever, ever had :)))) Of course it helped that I work on the same block and I was able to get there before they disappeared, and got to taste their samples about every day. Good thing I quit my job, otherwise I would be rolling downhill!! Yummy..had a good and tasty onion soup, a tad salty, but where have you had onion soup that was not a tad salty...is a given :) Yummy baked goods...enough said. GO! Do it now!

A little pricey but nice atmosphere and great service. Stopped here for a late breakfast and was very happy with the hot chocolate and apricot tart.

Had breakfast here on Friday July 8th - 9:15 am no wait. Service is a bit chaotic and slow - but quite friendly. Santa Fe omelet was tasty as were the garlic home fries. Indulged on an awesome almond croissant from the pastry side.

5 Stars for service for sure waiter was more than friendly, chatty and interesting....food was fairly priced except for the deserts which were rather expensive. I had a very good grilled burger and it was soooo much like homemade. I really liked it. And loved the fries. My husband had quiche and salad and he said it was very good. It was an evening meal and we were the only ones in there. Made us wonder, but the waiter said it was more a breakfast and lunch place which after seeing the menu we saw all the breakfast items and felt this was probably true. It was fine.

Tin ceilings, big, comfy patio out back give this an old world atmosphere. I went once for the almond croissant - that's worth a trip in itself. And again for breakfast - terrific. Very friendly, attentive staff. I believe their pastries are made next door and are part of the restaurant.

The untold story here is the green chile. Try the real Santa Fe cuisine at this cafe in addition to the sweets. We stopped in for breakfast and came back for a late lunch after a day on the Plaza. Our waiter was young but very professional despite the busy crowds of a Saturday morning. I'm from Denver but we'll be back for more great chile and killer chipotle sausage.

Good food but service was a little slow and they weren't really busy so no excuse.

My nephew and I ate breakfast at Burro Cafe this morning. He has Celiac and they could not have been more accommodating. The ham and cheese omelette was delicious with garlic potatoes. The patio is lovely. They were on the spot with coffee and pleasant as could be.

Ok, so we stumbled upon this establishment as Dixie was all out of sorts and needed some grub. Here lie Burro Alley. Naivete soon fell upon us as we looked over the menu and gravitated toward the eggs benedict- "The Breakfast Specials" and we were in need of some satiation. Outside was nice with fountains flowing and accordian music under canopy umbrellas. There it earned its one star. As for the eggs benedict, well sloppy to say the least. The Hollandaise sauce looked like some STD discharge you didn't want to mess with. English muffins were all soggy and the eggs were barely holding together, while the side of garlic potatoes looked liked they scrapped them from the previous customers left over plate. What can we say, we were tourists trapped in Burro Alley, not again my friends!

Eggs Benedict with real hollandaise sauce and the excellent French pastries we enjoyed in the late, lamented Paris Cafe. There's an outdoor patio where you can eat in warm weather. Monsieur parades trays of the pastries from the oven through the patio to the restaurant and the aroma is glorious.

Tia Sofia's was closed, so we tried Burro Alley for breakfast. It was excellent: fantastic wait staff, great food, and good coffee. We will definitely be back!

We tried this place on a Sunday afternoon, prime lunch time. No one was there. This should have tipped us off to just leave. We were told to seat ourselves, so the waitress didn't show up for a few minutes then asked us if we wanted anything to drink. We had to remind her we needed menus. She returns with two waters... with stains on both the glasses. We ordered burgers. My husband ordered his with green chili and I ordered mine with truffle fries. We waited over 20 mins. Our waitress was sitting down with her coworker at a booth near by. My husband decided to use the bathroom and passed by the kitchen... and saw our burgers WITH fries waiting to be picked up. He let the waitress know and she said, "It's not ready because the fries are not done.". She brings it over explaining that the fries take longer to make then the burgers. We ordered the burgers medium. It was very well done, burnt on the outside. The fries were burnt, dark brown and dried out. We couldn't even eat more than 4 fries because it was so hard to chew. Then we noticed my husband didn't get any green chili on his burger. She said that's because it's on my burger, as if it was his fault for her giving us the wrong plate. As she walked away she whispered under her breath, "I hate them." HA! The burgers were pretty tasty, but way too small for the bun. The bun just flaked and broke apart with each bite because it was over toasted. My 1 year old was quiet the entire time, but the one time she laughed with joy, the waitress shot us a look of concern. As if we are bothering any customers? No one came in while we finished eating. When we asked for our check, she walked away and gave a loud sigh! Just unbelieveable. Our burnt burgers were $13 with the fixings. $9 for the burnt truffle fries. I highly recommend this cafe if you like paying a lot for terrible service & food you can't digest.

A nice quaint, European style eatery. We had breakfast and it was as good as Pasqual's. Service was excellent.

The atmosphere is beautiful...a little chilly at the moment to be sitting outside, however if you sit directly in the sun and have some coffee and a pastry, it's perfect right now! There is no host stand, so you kind of seat yourself, or you wait for a server to help guide you to the perfect table. We went in a couple days ago and Ona was our server. She's very attentive, even with a million other demanding tables...she did great! Her recommendation was the Croissant French Toast, which was amazing in proportions and delicious in taste! The Nutella Crepe was perfect for our younger party and the omelets looked fantastic. It reminded me of Cafe Paris, only on the street of San Francisco St. instead of in burro alley. The patio is a must see, even if you aren't hungry! At night, this place turns into a night club...kind of hard to believe they have to clean up after all that to look this good in the mornings, however you'd never be able to tell. The staff is great, just be sure to have patience as it is a large place and they do get a lot of tables for each server that works...don't be in a rush when coming here.

I stopped into Burro Alley Cafe for a Sunday breakfast. It has a great patio! It was odd, when we came into the restaurant, no one wanted to take our name, but they had a list... we sort of felt like we were bothering people. Finally someone took our name and we were seated pretty quickly. I had a salad for brunch, the Cobb. It was very tasty. All in all it was a good experience.

Absolutely loved thus place! Atmosphere was great, had mother's day brunch out on the patio with a live accordion player playing. Had Eggs Benedict and a latte, all good but the tiramisu was absolutely amazing! We we'll definitely come back.

We were in Santa Fe in April 2014 came here for a light breakfast - ended up having just pastries because the choice of them in that front display counter is just mouthwatering. Sat on the outside patio in the sun it was just perfect. I actually walked off and left my purse here on one of the chairs - came back about an hour later after my sugar high wore off and I realized I had indeed left it and as soon as I walked in they seemed more relieved than I was - they greeted me right as I walked in and delivered my purse to me. So Yes the staff there are very professional - very nice.

We were in Santa Fe on vacation and we stopped in to have a little bite to eat before an afternoon walk. We brought our dogs with us - they were very accomodating to them and had us seated right away in the patio. They love dogs here and even gave each of them a little bowl of water. Very sweet servers. Menu is diverse, from french/belgian style food (Moules et Frites) to italian (pasta selection) to new mexican fare (green chile) I personally like crazy selection at restaurants and was in the mood for a bit of spaghetti - the hubs wanted some new mexican fare and opted for enchiladas and green chile. Green chile was SPICY :) So good! He had it in a small bowl (instead of having it poured over the food which is the custom). There is no opportunity for an adult bevvy here (although the servers tell us that they are working on the license) It was a good afternoon meal and we left feeling very full and the dogs were happy to have shared a lunch with us. It was a great little place, prices are reasonable and the service was excellent.

Don't make this mistake. All qualifiers up front: we are SFe residents; we've been here once or twice before; the staff seemed overwhelmed and under-trained. We will NEVER waste our time or money here again. We were told we could sit wherever we wanted and were brought menus promptly. She brought my coffee, then asked if I wanted cream/milk. That didn't come for about 5 minutes at which point I asked for a spoon to mix it up. Not exaggerating here, that took another 5-7 minutes. Coffee now lukewarm. Our order was taken promptly through all this by someone else. My husband's diet soda never came, after two requests, until I went up to the counter and asked for it. It arrived about 5 min after that extra request and about 15 min after he ordered it. There was a young trainee there today and it was clear that she didn't have a clue. Other staffers were reminding her "don't tell customers I'm a waiter..." and had to continually go to the register to help her. She is the one who couldn't get the milk/spoon to the table. She clearly has never been trained and so it's hard to fault her entirely. Several tables had to go to the counter to ask for menus as they got busier. In one case I saw the woman ask for menus (while standing at the counter) and the girls said "mmm hmmm" and walked away without giving her the menus THAT WERE RIGHT THERE ON THE COUNTER. My husband's croissant sandwich was clearly re-frozen, hard as a rock. As no one came to the table to ask how the meal was, I brought a piece of the croissant to the counter (only way to get attention) and said, "this is really not right, I think you might want to show the chef". The reply from the experienced waitress, "what, is it just hard or what?". To her credit, in about 7 min they brought him another sandwich on a good croissant BUT she never told us she was bringing the sandwich until she walked by the table once and said really kind of sharply, "well don't eat that one because the chef is making you another one. I mean you can eat it if you want...". If she'd told us one was coming initially, or as she took the sample from me, he wouldn't have eaten it. No apology. We asked for a check. She never brought it to the table so I stood in line at the counter for at least another 5-7 min. To be fair, she had four separate to go orders to put in and charge in front of me. However, that gave me the chance to watch her serve a pastry from the case onto a plate with the same hand that she just used on the credit card receipt, no gloves. Sigh. No apology for the wait, for the croissant, nothing. Look, it just isn't worth it. Santa Fe is FULL of really good places with the same kind of cool little ambiance (and two good French cafes) that all the tourists comment about. Don't bother here at all.

Hearty, flavorful food; warm and attentive service; outstanding freshly baked pastries. We started our day in Santa Fe with a great breakfast of eggs Benedict, a fresh fruit bowl, strong coffee and tasty Biscochitos. Paul, our waiter, couldn't have been nicer. Lemon slices in the water, extra hollandaise sauce, and a coffee cup that never got below half full. It's not often that you enjoy such good and friendly service. This small and casual cafe not far from the Plaza on San Francisco Road is comfortable and cozy. The prices are very reasonable and the menu offers a great selection of omelettes and egg dishes. All and all a great place for a relaxing meal in a quiet setting.

Don't really know where the bad reviews are coming from...had breakfast here on a Friday morning, our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. I had the Southwest omelette, which was good, and the perfect amount (not a plate with tons of food that you can't finish). Came with homemade raspberry jam :) Overall I had a good experience here.

This was my breakfast on my last day in Santa Fe. We were seated on their very cute patio. It's very beautiful, especially in early morning when it is cool (before the crowds come in). The french toast was amazing. My fiance had an omelet that looked fantastic and he said was great! The service was extremely slow, but the woman was so nice that it was hard to hold it against her.

Horrible service. Waited twenty minutes after being seated before we got up and left because nobody came to take our order. Several empty tables and I can see why.

  • Steve T.

The food we had was mediocre to poor, so thank goodness the service was terrible -- it delayed our misery. Admittedly we only had a brioche and cheese danish, so maybe there are other things on the menu that are better -- we'll have to leave that for other reviewers because we are not going back. At least one couple left without ordering because nobody came to take their order, and the wait staff, just two people, were dashing around and accomplishing little for all the energy they were expending. We finally had to go to the counter to get our check, and a coffee refill without asking? Ha! Not good. Not good at all.

Fantastic place for breakfast! Delicious New Mexico breakfast burritos! Great patio! Excellent location! So why only two stars out of five? It's simple...the service. The service is terrible. Ok, I get you are busy...but come on, you really need to hire more people to work there. I actually had to get my own water at one point and had to get up a second time to ask for my check. Plus, I saw two people get up and leave because nobody went to their table. If you have 3 hours to kill for breakfast, THEN this is the best place around.

Slow disorganized service and mediocre food. You are better off waiting for a table at Pascals. You will probably eat in the same amount of time.

The entire place is beautiful, the people there are extremely nice and welcoming. I had both a nice afternoon coffee and even a slight conversation with their amazing staff! Overall, if I lived around the area, that would be my go to café. Service was excellent. Their pastries are excellently made and delicious. All of them are French or styled influenced So. The red eye espresso that I had was made well, not acidic like Starbucks coffee, a very strong and perfect brew was presented to me, with a nice finish of steamed frothy milk on top.

Huge let down. Waiter kept forgetting one person's order, eggs came overcooked, several dishes came out dirty, some orders were cold, and most were put together like a child in a first cooking class. All that, and they charge $12 for a breakfast burrito!? How is this place still in business?

    (1)
  • Lindsey D.

If I lived here, you might find me working in the corner window seat every day. French music plays in the background while I sip on freshly made hot chocolate and enjoy a fresh cheese danish while I work. Lunch time approaches and I order one of the sandwiches on a freshly made baguette, or a salad stocked high with veggies. I finally give up the table but before I go, I take a cookie for the road. Now, if this was my daily routine I might weigh several more pounds, but it just might be worth it. This is the type of a cafe for the leisurely. Yes, you can also order food to go, but this cafe just begs you to take a seat and stay. Bring a book, write in a journal or log into the free wi fi (with plenty of outlets for charging!) and set up your workshop for the day. Whatever you decide to do, you'll be comfortable and happy to stay. This cafe is spacious, so each table is relatively private. The staff is very friendly but they also keep their distance knowing that you just want to work. During my visit, I came here to work one morning and only wish I could return every day! The pastries tasted as if they were fresh from the oven (they probably were!) and the hot chocolate...well you better order it if you love chocolate as much as me. Don't let the exterior fool you. It's not incredibly inviting from the outside, but just open the door and walk inside and you'll be happy you did. This is a great spot for single diners as well! The only downfall of my visit was that at one point, the lovely music was turned off so that one of the employees could watch a soccer game. The ambiance completely changed and I ended up leaving soon after because the TV was so loud and the cafe had lost a little bit of its charm with sports on in the background.

We wanted to go to Tia Sophia's which is across the street for our usual breakfast, but there was a line and we didn't want to wait. When we walked into the Cafe, I wondered if it was going to be a mistake, because there was no one in the front room. Two couples in the second side room and no idea how many in the back patio. We didn't want to sit in the patio because it was a bit chilly and windy. We picked up some pastries the night before and they were good. Plus, breakfast is the simplest meal to make, right? We ordered Eggs Benedict and two eggs with bacon. We waited and waited. No one filled my coffee and I had to wave my empty coffee cup for a couple of minutes before someone came over. The hollandaise sauce was tasteless, muffin cold, bacon overcooked and potatoes undercooked. We mentioned our dislike of the breakfast and the waitress said she brought the meals over as soon as they were ready. She asked if they could remake the meals or do anything to make it right. We were hungry and rushed, and said there isn't anything they could do. When they brought our check over, the waitress said they gave us a discount. They didn't charge us tax, about $3. Big whoop. I think there are other places to go to before we ever go there again. Maybe for just the pastries. But not for breakfast. There is Tia Sophia's across the street and Starbucks nearby.

Great place for lunch and their patio is really nice. My family was very well received and the wait staff was very courteous to everyone. Prices are average but the fouls was really amazing. We both had crepes and they were really good!

This place is SO dirty. It is cute, sunny and looks more casual and less touristy than other spots around the plaza, but the unisex bathroom for patrons and staff had NO SOAP. I made the mistake of looking in the kitchen and saw how disgustingly dirty it was...lettuce and bread pieces all over the floor, overflowing trash and dirty aprons. I couldn't stomach my food.

We didn't originally want to eat here but the restaurant we set our sights on was closed. So we settled. And it felt like settling. Recently I've been very aware of how full or empty restaurants are. This place was empty. The staff was mostly occupied with fiddling around on their laptops in the corner. Waiting on us (and eventually the two other parties inside) came second. When they were around though, they were nice. They serve breakfast all day so Davis had a breakfast burrito and I had the fajitas. The food was fine. Nothing really spectacular. The beef in mine was pretty poor quality. Lots of chewing. But the tortillas were yummy and the rice had corn in it so that's good. Our bill came out to $33 with tax and tip. It was pretty disappointing food for that much money. I definitely would not recommend it to others.

Enjoyed a yummy breakfast here with a friend. I had the croissant French toast and an iced mocha latte. Absolutely perfect! Good portion size, filling but not heavy. Very friendly staff and comfortable seating. I found out while there in the evenings it becomes a nightclub type lounge. I'll be back in Santa Fe and will for sure be back!

I like the patio seating area in the back. On a nice day they've got the fountain in the middle, the tables arranged all around, it's very pleasant. That being said, there's a lot of nice seating inside as well. We came here for brunch and were pleasantly surprised to find it NOT overcrowded. Thank goodness! I had the huevos rancheros Christmas style, with a side of bacon. Loved it all. Thin, crispy bacon, and the huevos rancheros were delicious. Great chile. They also have fresh baked French pastries here, so I recommend you try that. I liked the croissant. Service was good, even though we were seated outside. I always worry about that. I especialyl like the proximity to the plaza; when you're done with your meal step outside, wander down the alley and explore Old Santa Fe. Pretty awesome.

Average food and extremely slow service. A family who was sat 10 minutes after us had their order taken before we received drinks or menus. My partner gave up and took our dog on a walk, and maybe 20 minutes later the owner came and took my order. Overall, it was a meh experience. While I appreciated the prompt attention our dog got as we were sat, that same attention was not given to the humans in the party.

One of the few restaurants around town I hadn't eaten at before. We were passing by, and the outdoor garden In back looked inviting so we decided to stop in for some drinks and a small bite. Our waitress (later found out from our bill her name is Ghita) rushed up to our table looking annoyed and muttered something about how we are lucky, that they close up in 10 minutes. We ordered some ice teas and asked her what kind of pastries they had, she shot back "I'm not about to tell them all to you go up and look for yourself, and if all you're ordering is pastries give me the menus so you don't get them dirty." Hands down the most terrible, rude server I've ever had. We were all speechless, finished up and got out of there. On our way out I heard our waitress complaing about how terrible working is and couldn't wait to get out of there, to a couple who I assume were friends of hers. The back patio is beautiful and the few things we did have there were good, the restaurant should do itself a favor and get professional staff. Never have I had such terrible, rude service!!

I came here on a late Sunday afternoon after seeing Sir Derek Jacobi at the Lensic; I was staying in Los Alamos for a work trip. I had the eggs benedict, which was fabulous. (One of the eggs was a tad overcooked, but I can't cook eggs anyway, so I won't judge). The potatoes and salad were nice along side it. The chocolate whatever-it-was for dessert was outstanding. The server was quite friendly even though they were having umbrella difficulties on a windy day. She even took my picture since I was there alone! I wasn't going to stop here originally but am so glad I did, a very pleasant end to a fun day.

One star only because we can't give zero stars. The cafe was dirty but more importantly the female dark haired server was exceptionally rude and unbelievably inefficient. The eight of us were seated relatively quickly for breakfast since there was plenty of room in the cafe .. should have been our first clue. The waitress argued with me over what kind of coffee I wanted .. telling me what I was going to have. Really?!? No, I'll tell you what coffee I want. Wow. Not off to a good start. The food took a long time to come out and every single one of us had ice cold plates and ice cold food .. yummy omelet that's cold. Must be the cafe's specialty, given others have left the same type review. Three of us ordered another coffee with a shot of espresso and the waitress insisted on just filling one of our coffee cups with regular brewed coffee, completely ignoring our request. We will NEVER be back. It's unfortunate that this place survives on unsuspecting first timers .. it should suffer the consequences of bad service, bad food and a completely arrogant staff and go out of business. Don't waste your time, there are so many better places in SFe.

Had a wonderful breakfast here this morning. The eggs Benedict was amazing as were all the yummy pastries we ordered. The courtyard atmosphere was beautiful. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

A little confusing. Burro Alley is next door/part of/whatinthewho to Cafe Paris or Paris Bakery or whateverit'scalled... which may or may not be open. I couldn't tell. My little crew wandered around the small block a few times in search of mouth-watering french pastries and a charming outdoor experience. The reality of the situation didn't quite measure up to the romance. To begin (and, repeat), confusing. On the alley side, it's difficult to tell where you're going. Once you figure it out, sitting outside is the better option to sitting inside. The umbrella'ed tables are charming... but the flies... good God Almighty...the flies. Has there been a plague loosed upon Santa Fe that no one told me about? It's hard to concentrate on the charm of a place when all you can think about is whether the fly that alighted on you/your food had just been in the trash or on dog poop or was just giving you a 'clean' regurgitation. Unappealing. That said, if you squint real hard and repeat "there's no place like home" a few dozen times, you can block it all out and sip on a fancy coffee drink and feast upon beautiful (if not all that satisfying by taste) pastries. Our server was very kind and complimented me on my watch. That will *always* give you points. Well played, BAC. That said, if you find yourself in Santa Fe and without enough time to fit in a visit to BAC... your trip is no worse the wear. Take it or leave it. 3 stars.

I'm giving 5 stars bc I never dined in so I didn't experience the poor customer service other reviewers did. Had a chocolate filled croissant and blueberry scone which both were delicious & a little pricey (around $6/ea). The next day I ordered two breakfast burritos to go and for $7.95/ea, they were AMAZING! A generous sized burrito with egg and potato, smothered in green chili and cheese PLUS a side of potatoes & a side of the best pinto beans I have ever had! I don't know about the rest of the food but the breakfast burrito was the perfect take out and was a ton of food for the $$! Maybe the key to this place is to order food "To Go" so you don't have to worry about the poor customer service - yes, the staff did appear to be all teens who were busy visiting and messing around w/ each other.

Ok understand one thing, coming from the east coast, Santa Fe has a certain charm and some very cute little eateries that have great food and their own charm. So a name like Burro Alley doesn't necessarily ring chic and from the outside it;s an anybody's guess as to what you are going to get. Ambiance , nooooo, not quite, charm and local flair, yes! Dead on. This is one of those place that doesn't look like anything on the outside, is rather plain and simple on the inside but from the number of regulars I observed while there, there is a reason its always crowded and why everyone knows the servers names and why there is tin ceilings and an old fashion bar and a bakery case and a cool menu and great fairly priced food. They put the effort where it should go for a restaurant, in the things that matter. Food, service, speed and fun. The fun comes in with the local musician playing some cool diddies from Jazz to French culture classics while you eat at a level you don't need to shout over. No false promises, no ultra chic overstuffed sofas and outrageous prices. Just good, good and good and collectively great! Attire friendly, try the giant pancakes for breakfast. Stopped there on my morning walk and made the NYC diner feeling come to life in Santa Fe

we were looking for a quick baked snack while strolling so this review doesn't comment upon an actual meal. we opted for day-old chocolate croissant and sweet roll along with fresh butter cookie and choc chip cookie. i suggest sticking with fresh stuff - butter cookie was excellent, choc chip ok but other stuff clearly doesn't keep as well unless you ask them to heat it up. service was a bit rushed but friendly - if you wanted to sit, the courtyard looked nice and perhaps you'd get a bit more attention (not sure they're as used to take-out).

My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast on Sunday morning (day before Labor Day) to have breakfast. They were apparently short staffed because even though there were plenty of empty tables the hostess wasn't seating anyone because she wanted to "give the kitchen time to catch up". Needless to say, people were getting very annoyed and eventually just started seating themselves inside. There were a steady stream of customers coming thru just to grab some pastries and coffee to go so we thought we could do the same since we already had a table. Nope, no ordering takeout allowed if you want to actually stay and eat. Eventually we did get a table. We each had a pastry and coffee and also split a breakfast burrito. None of it was that impressive. My croissant was tasty but a little over baked (crunchy on the ends). Hubby's cheese Danish was decent. The breakfast burrito had a thick, obviously store bought tortilla and very little eggs... the filling was mostly potatoes. Our server was a real nice guy but that didn't really make up for the bad experience with the hostess. I probably would not come here again even though they have a really beautiful patio.

the best thing we had was a coke! the staff seemed totally overwhelmed by the 7 diners on a Sunday afternoon. the ratatouille crepe lacked flavor and should have been made with goat cheese rather than the oily Swiss cheese. Seems more like an establishment that supplements subpar culinary skills with salt and fat.

This is a terrible bakery; we ordered an apple tart which cost $7.50, and it was awful. So was a chocolate crossaint my wife had. These pastries were accompanied by expensive but bad coffee. They've renovated and expanded the interior. It's so beautiful! I don't feel like I'm in Santa Fe sans all the quaint, rustic furniture and southwestern junk you'd find on the plaza. Food is okay. I ordered the charcuterie baguette and was pretty satisfied. A little too greasy and the cheese was melted. I'd suggest offering dijon with the plate. For dessert we had a strawberry creme cake, very delicious. I'd go here just for their pastry selection. Service was meh. Seems like a bunch of summer-hires, what can you expect--It's certainly not fine dining. As long as my water and coffee are refilled, I'm okay. It looks like they'll be setting up a bar in the other room fairly soon. I'm curious to see what that will be like.

Some history: I think the pastry chef/cook used to work at Cafe Paris? Oh, we used to love that place. Now, that part of CP seems to have slid down the alley a little and settled uneasily at Burro Alley Cafe, where you can eat inside or out. We did take-out twice: once, for a pastry. Happy to report that the cheese Danish is about as good as before. (3 stars for that.) On a different occasion, the onion soup was NOT as good as before. The broth part lacked flavor, which is hard to manage with onion soup, non? On one recent weekend morning, though, we went there for a restaurant breakfast. Oh, the heartbreak. Their tables are arranged for greed, not for efficient service. We sere seated in THE worst table, I think, jammed between the desk and two other tables = a perfect puzzle when it came to being served more coffee--or anything at all, for that matter. Okay, it was awkward. But here's what was inexcusable: We ordered a side of bacon, "Super crisp, please. Very well-done." We were served an order of nearly-translucent bacon. The manager (I think it was he who was serving us, as it was crowded) saw the look on our faces. "Could you cook it a little longer, please? We asked for very well-done." "Okay," he said, trying to wiggle away from our table through the puzzle arrangement. He reappeared two minutes later--and, across the table, handed us--the exact same bacon! COLD! Did they get their $2.95 or whatever-it-was for the bacon? Yes. We were too tired of the place and the general attitude by then to fight it out. (Though when the waitress saw the untouched plate of bacon, it was just fine with her.) But we aren't going back, and they practically used to cater our vacation mornings.

The food was fine, but the service by the bald guy with the pony tail was inexcusable... he was obviously busy, but he was rude and off hand with us and actually only got really friendly when we asked to pay... We had to ask for menus twice (after we had managed to get someones attention finally)... He was just as rude to other people that came in after us and it was obvious he would rather not be serving more customers... Looking at the other reviews, it seems like it may have just been an off day for them, but you can't afford to have off days when you are running a small business... There are a number of very nice cafe's and coffee shops in Santa Fe; we'll be frequenting them instead...

Pleasant patio seating in the glorious fall sunshine. Sunday afternoon accordion accompanied good eggs benedict and better huevos rancheros. Good chocolate croissant and MARVELOUS almond croissant. At least go for that and coffee!! Incredibly poor service. We sat outside and ordered coffees but were told that to order a pastry we had to do inside to the counter. The person at the counter told us to order pastries at the table in order to have it on one check. The waiter never returned to service us. Finally, when we flagged him down for the check for our coffees, the waiter told us to pay inside at the counter, no check was given. When we went inside to pay, the individual, who seemed to be the owner, asked us why we didn't pay our server, and asked us for our check, which we never received from the waiter. He was very put out at having to ring us up at the counter. We will never go back.

A pal and I needed a small bite before a long afternoon of grazing, so we sauntered into this cheerful place. We explained to the Server that we only wanted a light bite and that was acknowledged very politely---NO attitude! I immediately liked that. We had cappuccinos which were very nicely done, good foam content. That was followed by Hummus which was excellent, served w/ a basket of warm Pita bread. I did look around ( very discreetly I might add) at other's meals & they looked very well executed. The place was crowded, but not in a bad way. The service was top notch --- and I would recommend this place because of: Great service ( with NO attitude on the side thank-you-very-much), clean & beautifully decorated inside & really good food.

Good thing I quit my job, otherwise I would be rolling downhill!! Yummy..had a good and tasty onion soup, a tad salty, but where have you had onion soup that was not a tad salty...is a given :) Yummy baked goods...enough said. GO! Do it now!

My husband and I popped in for a late breakfast. We were seated outside in the little courtyard area. Fresh flowers, a side view of the Lensic Performing Arts Center (with its unusual architectural detail), a pretty fountain, and an accordion player made for a lovely setting for breakfast. We both had an Eggs Benedict dish with creamy spinach, & smoked salmon. This was served with garlic potatoes and a small bowl of sliced fresh fruit. The chef accommodated our request for no hollandaise sauce, saving us a few precious calories for later dining. Delicious coffee with unlimited refills rounded out the meal.

We found this place in a bit of desperation for some breakfast. We were initially concerned about the pricing, but after being seated in the cozy cafe area, warmed to it. The service was friendly and attentive and made frequent refills of their excellent coffee. We both opted for the breakfast burrito, and the chili on top was so good. Yummy potatoes on the side too, and the size of the meal made it well worth the price. As we were leaving, our waiter offered us a to-go cup of the coffee. It was a very pleasant and delicious meal.

Stopped in for breakfast, solo. The Huevos Rancheros were among the best I have had in a long while (a dish that should be simple to get right, though so many places don't). Service was good too. Nice cafe vibe and reasonable prices. Thumbs up...

Pleasant patio seating in the glorious fall sunshine. Sunday afternoon accordion accompanied good eggs benedict and better huevos rancheros. Good chocolate croissant and MARVELOUS almond croissant. At least go for that and coffee!!

We come here often to grab lunch on the weekends. I'm giving it 5 stars because everything we have gotten is very good and service is very good as well. I love their tuna salad sandwiches and their oysters w/fries. The prices are affordable and you can eat there quickly or take your time. Their salads are always fresh as well. If you grab a table by the windows then you can people watch and have a good time!

It was a very pleasant and delicious meal.

we were looking for a quick baked snack while strolling so this review doesn't comment upon an actual meal. we opted for day-old chocolate croissant and sweet roll along with fresh butter cookie and choc chip cookie. i suggest sticking with fresh stuff - butter cookie was excellent, choc chip ok but other stuff clearly doesn't keep as well unless you ask them to heat it up. service was a bit rushed but friendly - if you wanted to sit, the courtyard looked nice and perhaps you'd get a bit more attention (not sure they're as used to take-out).

Came here a few times during my stay in Santa Fe. As i was working in the evenings i got take-out and it was always great. the guacamole is especially good, fresh and chunky with a good bit of heat. Carne Asada burrito gigantic and delicious. The staff were friendly and very accomodating.

This is a terrible bakery; we ordered an apple tart which cost $7.50, and it was awful. So was a chocolate crossaint my wife had. These pastries were accompanied by expensive but bad coffee. We politely complained about the pastries to our waitress and she was apologetic. She offered us a choice of other pastries, but we suspected that others were equally bad. I have never written a negative review before but the Burrow Alley Cafe was so awfule that I wanted to save someone else having the same negative experience. Don't go there!

These are the BEST almond croissants I have ever, ever had :)))) Of course it helped that I work on the same block and I was able to get there before they disappeared, and got to taste their samples about every day. Good thing I quit my job, otherwise I would be rolling downhill!!

Monsieur parades trays of the pastries from the oven through the patio to the restaurant and the aroma is glorious.

the best thing we had was a coke! the staff seemed totally overwhelmed by the 7 diners on a Sunday afternoon. the ratatouille crepe lacked flavor and should have been made with goat cheese rather than the oily Swiss cheese. Seems more like an establishment that supplements subpar culinary skills with salt and fat.

This was my breakfast on my last day in Santa Fe. We were seated on their very cute patio. It's very beautiful, especially in early morning when it is cool (before the crowds come in).

3 stars.

we were looking for a quick baked snack while strolling so this review doesn't comment upon an actual meal. we opted for day-old chocolate croissant and sweet roll along with fresh butter cookie and choc chip cookie. i suggest sticking with fresh stuff - butter cookie was excellent, choc chip ok but other stuff clearly doesn't keep as well unless you ask them to heat it up. service was a bit rushed but friendly - if you wanted to sit, the courtyard looked nice and perhaps you'd get a bit more attention (not sure they're as used to take-out).

Don't really know where the bad reviews are coming from...had breakfast here on a Friday morning, our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. I had the Southwest omelette, which was good, and the perfect amount (not a plate with tons of food that you can't finish). Came with homemade raspberry jam :) Overall I had a good experience here.
